3 Phase Separator Skid

Case Study: Ultimus Engineering’s Engineered Solutions team evaluated complex processing conditions and designed, modeled, and drafted a 3-phase separator skid, complete with measurement equipment while reducing costs and delivery time.

The Client: A nationally known independent energy company engaged in the exploration, development, and production of oil and natural gas resources in the United States. Based in largely in the south, they also conduct a large midstream operation.

The Goals: Ultimus Engineering was to provide process condition analysis, engineering design, and manufacturing and assembly drawings for a fluid separation application.

The Challenge: Based on previous experience with outsourcing engineering work, the client wanted to make sure they had extra communication along the process. Using Ultimus Engineering’s cloud-based design software, they were able to view the work in real-time, and make comments about the design far quicker than the industry standard 2-week approval drawing lead time.

The Results: A new well called for new process conditions and a careful analysis of these conditions. Care was taken to design for specific inlet pressures and temperatures and provide all the required ASME code calculations for the fabrication of the vessel. After separation, sales lines were designed for each phase of the 3-phase separator and termination points were provided at the skid limits. Separator configuration was provided by the customer regarding line locations and access points.
