PTW Energy Safety Culture

The PTW ENERGY SERVICES Permian Team takes Safety and Culture seriously. In our September safety meeting, we discussed a variety of topics, but the best one was the Stop Work Authority role playing. Everyone understands or has been told that they have SWA, but how do you actually do it?

We took this topic head on and used several scenarios on how to actually approach using SWA. What to say, how to get the conversation started. It was really helpful for our team to have this discussion. Think about it, our entire lives, our parents or our teachers taught us to "mind our business" or "not get involved", "if it doesn't concern you then don't worry about it". None of us knew we were teaching or learning how not to be a leader.

That is why we think it can be hard for our team in the field to actually use SWA. Today our team understands that mentality cannot continue no matter how or who we learned it from. It is a priority for us to make it our business when we see something going wrong.
