Mechanical 11 Ton Zero Gap Flange Spreader (AKA SG11TM)
Today we are preparing the SG11TM for an upcoming rental job next week. We are going to take this opportunity to show how to safely maintained your tool to maximize it’s life span, ensure durability, and safe operations.
Step 1
In addition to maintaining your tools before and after jobs. These steps should be completed on a regular bases. The first Step would be to establish a schedule and create a system to record and document.
Step 2
Place the tool on a bench or flat surface, ensuring that the right-hand side is facing down.
Step 3
Remove or replace the collet union, actuator, and cantilever retaining rings, exercise caution to avoid overstretching the retaining rings.
Step 4
Remove the open leg l/h and closed leg l/h from the tool
Step 5
Remove the actuator and cantilever from the tool
Step 6
First, degrease and clean the left-hand side of the tool. Next, lubricate all moving parts and areas where metal meets metal. Be careful not to disturb the centering springs.
Step 7
Reassemble the tool.
Step 8
Once your tool is reassembled flip the tool and repeat steps 2 thru 6.
Now your tool is ready for any job!
